Hi, my name is Dr. David Moreno. I’m an internal medicine physician, and I also specialized in functional medicine.

Functional medicine is trying to find out the root cause of disease and find out what deficiencies or imbalances people may have nutritionally, hormonally, or stress.

I have two offices, one in Land O Lakes on state road, 54, and another office in Brooksville, Hernando County, on state road 50.

I’ve been in practice for about 20 years. I did my residency locally at a university of Florida Shands Hospital. I grew up in Chicago, and I’m bilingual. I’m originally born in Colombia, came to the United States when I was seven years old. I’m very well versed in both Spanish and English and I love being able to help patients when they are at their worst.

Sometimes, patients have been to many doctors, and they can’t figure out what’s causing their problems because most doctors only see a portion of the issues that you need to be able to see the whole picture, treating people metabolically.

Treating their inflammation and their deficiencies, either nutritionally or hormonally. And I think that’s been very helpful for my patients because we can test for all those things.

It just feels like I’m a carpenter with more tools in the toolbox, and I’m able to help a lot of my patients that way, especially with my experience in internal medicine. Along with functional medicine, it’s the best of both worlds kind of put together.

I treat people with medications, but I try to get them off drugs, and that’s where the functional medicine approach comes in. Because we don’t just treat the symptoms, we try to treat the symptoms when they’re appropriate, as, like their blood pressure’s high, you have to put them on blood pressure medicine. But at the same time, we can need to find out what nutritional deficiencies they are lacking, or what problems do they have hormonally that could be contributing to hypertension.
